Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk announces the launch of an exclusive, limited-edition croissant inspired by the UAE’s native saffron flower. As part of the La Haute Croissanterie Blossoms afternoon tea and retail collection, the Floral Saffron is a vibrant tribute to the season of renewal, elegance, and blossoming beauty.
This spring, Sofitel invites guests to celebrate the spirit of the season, with a fresh twist on a timeless indulgence. Available from 9 May to 31 August at the Bijou Patisserie, the croissant is offered as part of the award-wining Le Goûter Vault afternoon tea, priced at AED195. The Floral Saffron croissant can also be purchased independently for AED32 and is a unique way for local and international travellers to connect with the flavours of the UAE during the spring season.
A Floral Masterpiece Rooted in Heritage
The Floral Saffron has been meticulously created by Executive Chef Jean-Francois Le Luherne of Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk. Composed of date sponge cake, orange marmalade, and topped with saffron crème brûlée, this creation elevates the beloved French pastry with a nod to regional culture and seasonal vitality.
“Bringing the Floral Saffron croissantto Dubai is my way of celebrating the beauty of spring — a season of colour, light, and surprise,” shares Chef Jean-Francois Le Luherne. “Each layer is designed to evoke the delicacy of nature’s bloom and reflect the spirit of the UAE’s saffron flower. The floral-infused croissant is part of Sofitel’s acclaimed La Haute Croissanterie concept, offered only at seven signature Sofitel properties worldwide. First introduced in January 2024, La Haute Croissanterie collection redefines the art of croissant-making through a lens of French sophistication and regional flair. By fusing traditional techniques with bold, locally inspired flavours, the initiative reflects Sofitel’s passion for cultural storytelling and culinary excellence.
