This October, Ginori Terrace at The St. Regis Downtown Dubai turns its Afternoon Tea experience pink. Set against the backdrop of the Dubai Water Canal, the Pinktober Afternoon Tea is served daily from 2pm to 6pm, with every sweet and savoury creation on the menu named after a woman whose story still inspires.
Throughout the month, every table becomes part of a meaningful cause, as a contribution from each Afternoon Tea goes to Al Jalila Foundation’s #PINKtober initiative, supporting breast cancer research and treatment in the UAE. This year’s menu draws inspiration from a simple yet powerful line, “In every shade of pink, there is a story of strength,” opening fittingly with the formidable Mrs. Caroline Astor, the Gilded Age society doyenne and a muse and inspiration for the St. Regis brand.
The Caroline sets the tone with a soft raspberry ice cream and a note of rose, a small nod to the grand soirées she was known for. The sandwiches follow with The Marie, for Marie Curie, which layers wild smoked salmon on spinach tramezzini with beetroot gel and salmon roe, while The Audrey keeps things clean and understated with a cucumber confit roll, cream cheese, avocado and micro herbs. The Josephine is a shrimp cocktail with a fitting sense of theatre, leaving The Frida which brings Cecina de León, Emmenthal, crème fraîche and figs together on white tramezzini, and The Jane, for Jane Goodall, showcasing an earthy butternut and ricotta tart finished with maple butternut and chervil.
Then comes the part of afternoon tea that delights sweet cravings. The Elizabeth, named for Queen Elizabeth II, is the plain and cranberry scones, baked fresh and served with Cornish clotted cream and jam. The Ginori 1735-inspired desserts finish the afternoon, with The Coco, a pink macaron with pistachio mousse and a chocolate kunafa crunch; The Diana, pairing fresh fig with an almond tartelette and vanilla diplomat cream; The Serena with homemade praline beneath its hazelnut crunch; and The Maya, for Maya Angelou, ending the experience with mango and lime sponge.
Served on exquisite Ginori 1735 porcelain, the delectable pastries set against pastel pink hues and hand-painted blue motifs, on a terrace dressed in the house’s Oriente Italiano designs and overlooking the shimmering Dubai Water Canal.
This Pinktober, Ginori Terrace at The St. Regis Downtown Dubai comes together in support of the Al Jalila Foundation, raising awareness and contributing to cancer research while paying homage to the remarkable women who have shaped history. An afternoon of thoughtful indulgence, the experience offers a meaningful moment to celebrate their stories, strength and legacy.
